About Vintage Photos from Different Time Periods/Cultures
Anything vintage is great. Vintage objects are the new fashion and design statements. Vintage photos are one of the most recognized and collected vintage items. The aesthetics of vintage photos are far better than the modernized pictures nowadays. Vintage photos convey the real emotions and importance of the subject where modern pictures are too edgy and pass through a lot of edits and alterations.
Vintage photos are great memories of the past. In reality, the photos taken from 1920 to 1929 are the real vintage photos. The photos on this era are natural black and white. The 1930’s photos are also considered the real vintage photos. These photos have the natural faded effect that can be done these days through the “sepia options” on digital cameras. The colored options for pictures, though already invented as early as 1860, started to gain popularity in the 1940’s era. But because so many decades had passed, the pictures taken earlier and a couple of years later than 1920’s are generally known as vintage photos.
The 1920’s is the decade referred as the Roaring Twenties, Golden Twenties and The Jazz Age. The pictures taken from this decade generally depicts the prosperity of different countries and cultures before World War II. Pictures of entertainers like Charlie Chaplin, John Barrymore, Marion Davies, Marie Pickford, Rudolph Valentino and Paul Whiteman are considered vintage photos nowadays. The worth of each photo, especially those who were personally signed, can come up to a couple of hundred dollars. These is also true to photos of great athletes in the 20’s such as boxer Jack Dempsey, golfer Bobby Jones, tennis veteran Bill Talden and baseball pro Lou Gehrig. Their photos taken so many decades ago are considered vintage photos and are sometimes auctioned at special auction houses.
Of course, the subjects of vintage photos are not purely portraits. A lot of vintage photos in the 20’s are revolved around magnificent landscapes and fashion trends on the said decades. Women in flapper dresses photographed on those days are great vintage photo display nowadays. A photo of Chrysler Six taken in 1924, where the auto was the coolest of its kind, is respected nowadays as a vintage photo.
Needless to say, the photos taken the following couple of decades are also worth something today. Photos of different buildings and communities that defined the decade’s pop culture are also considered priceless vintage photos. Vintage photos of the Empire State Building, which was opened in 1931, are naturally costly these days. And obviously, photos of stars and productions on the classic movies such as Gone with the Wind and Wizard of Oz are priceless vintage photo collections.
The same goes for all the photos taken in 1950’s and 1960’s. Vintage photos are not just celebrity pictures that are being auctioned or displayed on exhibits nowadays. Vintage photographs are also personal family photos that reminds the new generation of your family about the life that your grandparents and even ancestors lived. Vintage photos are great remembrances of the past so younger family members can appreciate the history of the family more.
