Scrap Booking With Vintage Photos:

There are many things you can do after you purchase vintage photos. One great idea is to start a scrap book where you can show off your entire collection of prints. You can put all types of vintage prints together in your scrap book. For example, you can combine nude vintage photos, war photos and even landscape photos together in the same book. No matter if your photos are actual illustrations from an artist's hand, a photograph taken from one of the first cameras, or an old advertisements or newspaper clipping, they all provide a unique elegance to your scrap book and help capture the emotions of all those who look through it.

Here are five ideas to help you get your vintage photo scrap book started!

1. Place your favorite vintage photo in the center of the page. Then you place smaller photos of the same idea or theme all around the larger one. The photos don’t all need to line up perfectly or even create a circle around the largest photo. Just have fun and be creative with the placement of the vintage photos on the page.

2. Some vintage photos are very small, such as comical figures, holiday symbols and good-luck charms. You can use these as fillers on a page that needs a little something extra in order to make the page attractive or to help provide a certain feeling to the page. In fact, women of the Victorian era use to cut out small illustrations, called “scraps” and paste them in books. Hence this started the “scrap book” that we know today!

3. Newspaper clippings can add a lot to any scrap book page. As long as you are creative or know your history, the newspaper clippings will help people who are looking through your scrap book understand the vintage photo and how you portray the photo.

4. You can use some of your smaller vintage photos as a border or to help create a frame around an advertisement or newspaper clipping. Many vintage photos are full of unique colors which add a very elegant appearance to your scrap book pages when they are organized as a border. You can even do this to the cover of your scrap book as a way to capture people’s attention and make them want to look through your collection.

5. If you have a really great vintage photo, such as a landscape scene, you can always have it copied and then use the copy photo as a background for an entire scrap book page. You can place other vintage photos or newspaper clippings on the enlarged photo; just make sure that your background image peeks through so that everyone can see it.

These are just some ideas on how to create your vintage photo scrap book. Have fun with it and remember to be creative!
